BAYANIHAN GAWAD PARANGAL CANADA (BGPC)
OBJECTIVES

To recognize the genuine services and contributions of Filipinos and individuals of Filipino descent in their communities, promoting the true essence of the Bayanihan spirit, inspired by our enduring Filipino values such as “malasakit”, “damayan”, “pakikipagkapwa-tao”, at “kusang-palo” among others. The official title of each award being “The Bayanihan Gawad Parangal Canada for (Name of Category)”.

To showcase remarkable achievements of Filipinos in Canada and around the world which will inspire and motivate others to achieve their goals despite all odds, exemplifying a true and tested Filipino trait of resiliency or “katatagan”.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION CATEGORY
A. Community/Public Service
Recognizing exemplary servant-leaders who are role models for dedication, compassion, leadership, and service as they take an active role in organizing events and activities supporting the welfare of Filipino community members.
B. Healthcare
Focuses on outstanding contributions of Filipinos in the Healthcare sector. The recipient of this award manifests extraordinary sacrifices and contributions to the profession, something that best exemplifies the essence of the Bayanihan spirit.
C. Sports
Recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions of Filipino and Canadian athletes of Filipino descent in Sports.
D. Arts
Gives due recognition to achievements and contributions of Filipino and Canadian Visual Artist of Filipino descent in the world of Visual Arts.
E. Film/Entertainment
Recognizes outstanding contributions of Filipinos and Canadians of Filipino descent in the area of Film and Live Entertainment.
F. Business and Entrepreneurship
Recognizes the superior entrepreneurial spirit of business owners who display a deep commitment to turn their business into an instrument of progress and Filipino ingenuity, and not merely a means for earning profit. This also recognizes business owners with proven track record of supporting Filipino community events.
G. Environment
Recognizes notable engagements concerning Environmental projects and undertakings.
H. Organization
This will give due recognition to any Filipino-led Organization that exemplifies and promotes the values and truths of being a Filipino.
I. Media/TV & Prints
Focuses on stellar accomplishments in the area of traditional (Print) and/or Digital Media (Internet/Social Media – including influencers) and Television.
J. Charity and Social Services
Gives due recognition to achievements focusing on charitable works and basic social services.
K. Youth Category
Recognizes exemplary achievements of the young Filipino or Canadian with Filipino descent.
L. Other Recognitions
Each Category (when deemed necessary) will also consider or include several recognitions in its sub-categories to be set by the Awards Committee.
M. Other Category Not Identified Above
Awardees with outstanding achievements not covered by the categories listed but embodied the spirit and objectives of the Bayanihan Gawad Parangal Canada.

Nominations Requirements:
Filipinos, or individuals of Filipino descent, and organizations owned and managed by Filipinos, who has done remarkable achievements and proven track record in making a difference in the lives of members of our community, are eligible for nomination.
Endorsement from community organization and 3rd party nomination is preferred. However, self- nomination is also acceptable. Nominations should be accompanied by the nominee’s personal profile, academic/school achievements (if applicable), any verifiable supporting documents, a short narrative highlighting his/her achievements or recognition in community involvements and career credentials. All nominations must be submitted on or before the deadline set.
The BGPC Awards Committee:
The BGPC awards committee is composed of the Chairman of the Board, volunteer representatives from various Filipino community associations and media organizations who will serve as the Screening Committee.
Screening and Judging Committee:
The BGPC Committee screens each nominee based on the chosen category through document verification and interview process. Personal credentials, career achievements and community involvements will be screened by the Awards Committee. In case of a tie or if the Committee deems it necessary, the nominee will be called for an interview. Final nominees will be forwarded to the Chairman of the Board for approval.
